The project

This speech repository project was jointly started in August 2019 by students of the Pan African University Interpreting programme with those of the Advanced School of Translators and Interpreters (ASTI) to collect speeches for interpreting practice. The initiators wanted to benefit current and future interpreting students who would easily find audio-visual materials for practice.

The website was built by the initiators themselves and maintenance and upload is still ensured by the team. Speeches are provided by interpreting students and professionals and upon review, are uploaded to the platform and shared. To submit a speech, click here.

PAUTRAIN — the Pan African University Translation, Interpreting and Intercultual Communication programmes — is an extension of the Yaounde-based Pan African University Institute of Governance, Humanities and Social Sciences (PAUGHSS). PAUTRAIN is hosted by the Advanced School of Translators and Interpreters (ASTI).

ASTI — Advanced School of Translators and Interpreters (ASTI) — is a State institution of higher learning created in 1985 by an Order of the President of the Republic of Cameroon. The host institution is a renowned centre of excellence in the fields of translator and interpreter training with about 900 graduates to date, all high-level and dependable professionals serving across some thirty countries around the world.

ASTI is located at the University of Buea, in an evergreen campus at the foot of majestic Mount Cameroon, fifteen to twenty-minute drive from the historic seaside resort city of Limbe and forty minutes away from Douala, the economic capital of Cameroon.
